'Bake not buy', say NO to plastic waste at this year's CEEC rebellion.

This year we aim to make the CEEC Rebellion as plastic free as possible. This involves the usual bring your own tea/coffee mug policy, and additionally this year we will be baking, not buying, cakes and biscuits!

We hope that this will be a fun activity (who doesn't like baking?!) but also highlight the alternative choices we as individuals can make to reduce our impact on the planet. Who wants their biscuits and cakes wrapped up in single use plastic?! Not us! If anyone is interested in joining the CEEC Rebellion 'bake not buy' campaign drop one of the committee members an email and we will provide more details. Happy baking!

This year's meeting, taking place on 19th-20th March, will include a number of talks from current PhD and post-doctoral researchers, as well as plenary talks from internal and external faculty members, and also plenty of tea and biscuits!

This year's Rebellion is brought to you by the following committee. Please feel free to contact us with questions, suggestions or requests either by email or in person (we can usually be found in BIO or ENV)!

Introducing this year's CEEC Rebellion poster! - designed by Jenny Donelan

CEEC Rebellion logo competition!

At a recent CEEC RDG, it was suggested that the current CEEC logo (see below) looked dated and was in desperate need of an update!
Therefore, for this year's Rebellion we will be holding a competition to redesign the logo, with a fantastic prize for the winner!

The rules for entry are simple:

  • One entry per person
  • The logo should be relevant to CEEC's research remit (ecology/evolution/conservation)
  • The logo should demonstrate CEEC's affiliation to UEA
  • The logo should be able to easily fit on a poster/presentation

The design doesn’t necessarily have to be the finished product (i.e. we can run with a concept and tweak it) and if you aren’t confident using graphic design software, scanned copies of hand-drawn logos are fine! The logos will be displayed on an automated slideshow during tea breaks throughout the Rebellion before being put to a vote on the second day. The winner will then be announced along with the best student talk at the end of the RebellionThe competition is open to all members of CEEC and designs should be emailed to Ryan (ryan.brock@uea.ac.uk) prior to the Rebellion.

We look forward to seeing your designs!

Information for the day

Hello everyone,
CEEC Rebellion Conference is next week!

The event will be hosted in the Zicer Seminar Room (top floor) and will start at 9:30 am on both days (14-15 March).

If your talk is one of the first 3 talks of the day, please bring your presentation on a memory stick at 9:15, so we can load it on the local computer.

If possible, please bring your own mug to enjoy tea/coffee at the conference though we will have plastic cups available.
